Joel M. Stern, managing partner and CEO of Stern Stewart & Co., earned his MBA in 1964. Following an 18-year career at Chase Manhattan Bank, during which he rose to the position of president of Chase Financial Policy, Stern founded Stern Stewart & Co., a corporate financial advisory firm. He is a recognized authority on financial economics, corporate performance measurement, corporate valuation, and incentive compensation.

Stern has sat on the executive advisory committee of the William E. Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester and is a life member of the Council on Chicago Booth. He has taught business at Columbia University, the University of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, and the Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney. Stern also is the author of the books Analytical Methods in Financial Planning and Measuring Corporate Performance, among others.
