Nightingale Open Science Expands Data Access
, a healthcare data platform hosted by the Center for Applied AI, launched in January 2022 with a mission to democratize access to healthcare data to researchers worldwide in an effort to further the field of computational medicine. In collaboration with clinical health systems such as Providence, National Taiwan University, Stanford, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and others, Nightingale has published newly available, clinically-focused datasets totaling over 160 terabytes of medical imaging and other device data, including the world’s largest collection of breast cancer biopsies linked to long term outcomes. Our data has been used by researchers and students from over 50 countries working to solve pressing issues in disease diagnostics and treatment.
We proudly celebrate our profound success in empowering researchers, students, and healthcare professionals worldwide, and are happy to announce a new initiative to expand our partner network and make our invaluable de-identified datasets even more accessible to researchers in their home institutions. We are excited to be partnering with the to become one of our first Nightingale Network university partners. With this arrangement, Berkeley researchers who prefer to use secure computing resources within their home institution will be able to do so, capitalizing on their existing resource investments to reduce costs and operate more efficiently.
Adding the Nightingale Network model of academic institutional partners on top of the existing Nightingale cloud platform expands the possibilities for researchers using Nightingale data. If you are interested in using Nightingale data within your own institution, please reach out to Dr. Emily Bembeneck, the Center’s director, to discuss arrangements. Nightingale will continue to gather and expand access to data, ensuring that researchers across the globe can pursue groundbreaking discoveries in computational medicine wherever they may be.
